Don Herring, Jr., Show chairman, predicted it will be an exciting event with vehicles that even the most serious auto enthusiast may have never seen!

"With many 2020 vehicle unveilings happening in Detroit and Chicago already this year, some of these cars and trucks will make their way toward Dallas to take center stage in their respective manufacturers’ displays. It is always fun to see what they have in store for the future,” Herring said.

Product specialists are available inside the Show to discuss all the bells and whistles of their vehicles and, outside, Show attendees can get assistance on their car-buying decisions by taking a test drive through the streets of downtown Dallas. And to be able to choose from approximately 75 different vehicles in one area is quite remarkable,” Herring said.

The CBS 11 Classic Car Corral will return this year as well. David Hershey, CBS 11 vice president of Creative Services, said that show guests will get to see beautiful examples of automotive style, innovation and power from nearly every decade.

"This year, we will celebrate the evolution of the Ford Mustang, Mercury Cougar and Chevy Corvette. And, if Pontiac is more your style, stop by and see a replica of the 1977 black Trans AM Burt Reynolds drove in the movie ‘Smokey and the Bandit,' ” Hershey said.

In addition, the Aftermarket Area will feature a variety of products and services for the car and home, and the Community Service area in D/E Hall Lobby will spotlight such worthwhile organizations as Straydog, Inc., the Dallas Police Department’s Safelight Program and the Girls Scouts who will sell their cookies.

DFW Auto Show to Host Law Enforcement Day on March 27

The DFW Auto Show and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) will host a Law Enforcement Day on Wednesday, March 27 in Ballroom C-4 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

A seminar will be held from 8 am to noon, with the vehicle inspection noon to 4 pm. Area officers will receive four hours of accredited training at no cost to the officers. The training is different each year on topics such as VIN switches, altering vehicles, new crime trends, types of stolen vehicles, new technology to prevent auto theft and auto burglary, and many others.

"The biggest benefit of the training is that officers are also allowed access inside the show prior to opening to the general public so they can view secondary identification numbers of new models in pristine conditions,” said Special Agent Jerry Allen, NCIB Southwest Region.

"Many of these numbers are located in confined obscure areas on the vehicles and can be difficult to locate months or years after the vehicles are stolen. Being able to locate these numbers on clean new vehicles helps NICB and law enforcement later identify vehicle and get them returned to the proper owner,” Allen added.

This program will cover the importance of the working relationship between the dealers and law enforcement, what to expect from law enforcement and what the dealers can do to assist law enforcement and ensure recovery of the vehicle(s) and effective prosecution of the offenders.
